Our 100% owned Nova Operation in the Fraser Range is a world class underground mine and processing plant producing nickel, copper and cobalt-commodities that are significant in the world's drive for clean energy. Exploration is core to IGO's DNA and we are actively pursuing brownfield and large greenfield exploration programs run by one of the best in-house technical and management teams in the country.


IGO are currently searching for an experienced Electrical & Instrumentation Technician to join the Nova Operation. Reporting to the Supervisor Electrical, your focus will be to maintain, troubleshoot and continuously improvement Electrical & instrumentation assets across the Nova Mine site, by maximising availability of equipment through high quality maintenance work. This role is being offered on a permanent 8 days on, 6 days off FIFO roster from Perth or DIDO from surrounding areas.


Based at our NOVA mine site nestled in the Fraser Range, you will be responsible for working within a close team that is motivated and driven by the strong culture they have created over time. You will have ability to connect with your colleagues, as well as the onsite contractors to work together collaboratively for safe and efficient execution of work.

You will be responsible for:

  • Conducting maintenance activities as directed by your supervisor across all areas of Nova including but not limited to:
    • Underground
    • Processing plant
    • Paste plant
    • TSF
    • Non-Process Infrastructure
    • Village
    • Workshops
  • Work on instrumentation, LV, MV, and HV systems across the Nova asset base
  • Assist in the Interrogation and troubleshooting of PLCs issues
  • Assist in the Interrogation and troubleshooting of Citect control system issues
  • From time to time, you will be expected to conduct non-electrical (e.g. basic mechanical fitting) or other duties within your capabilities and at the direction of your Supervisor
  • Actively work to minimise plant downtime by ensuring high quality work standards and practices are adhered to
  • Ensure all equipment is maintained and used within the manufacturers’ specifications
  • Carry out maintenance on the electrical equipment to ensure service meets the requirements of the business units and statutory outcomes


You are an excellent communicator and have the ability to create and maintain effective working relationships at all levels. You hold Electrical & Instrumentational Trade Qualifications with strong exposure to similar working environments within the mining industry. You pride yourself on your outstanding attention to detail, can multi-task and work well in a pressured environment, whilst holding the necessary Working at Heights & Confined Space tickets. You have a good understanding of Fixed Plant HV and LV system maintenance work and competent in this area. You hold a current Western Australian “A” Class Electrical Licence, a “C” Class Drivers Licence and a High Voltage Switching Ticket to be compliant in working within this high-risk area. You are always a positive team player and thrive on performing quality work .
