Hey guys :) For mechanical engineering can you elaborate on the mentorship and guidance structure available please?

- Would there be supervisor, or would it be a team - What initiatives would the I be expected to take to stand out during the program

Hi Hari, I've just started as a graduate mechanical engineer and had a chance to interact with the previous batch's mechanical engineering vacation student. You will have a direct supervisor, but we work as a team here on Nova, so you will have plenty of interactions with people from various disciplines and backgrounds.

In terms of standing out during the program, I wouldn't have an exact answer, but I would say be yourself. Try to work with the team and contribute whenever you can. Don't be afraid to speak up and just do your best work.

And with regards to the vacation role would it be predominantly on site or in the Perth office? or would it be a mix

Hi Hari, a Mechanical Engineering Vacation Student would be placed at our Nova nickel-copper-cobalt Operation (located about a 1-1.5 hour flight from Perth). Generally, this would be on a 8 days on, six days off roster for the 12 week period.

That sounds great, Thank Natalie :) Following up would it be 8-10hour work days typically?

Typically a 12 hour day while at site.

Thank you, Natalie. Could you provide more detail on teams or different areas of work are structured? For instance, are there dedicated teams for different aspects of the mine, each comprising a mix of specialties? I'm interested in understanding how collaboration and specialization intersect within the internship program

At Nova we've got an engineering team, that is made up of primarily mechanical and electrical engineers in different roles and positions, e.g., plant engineer, reliability engineer, project engineer, etc. Generally the engineering team takes care of the entire plant/processing system needs. We work hand in hand with the operators, maintenance crew and metallurgists to find innovative solutions to the problems we face. So depending on the project you're working on there will be a lot of opportunities to collaborate with different individuals from different backgrounds.

The program gives you a good opportunity to take away knowledge from not just your own field of expertise but wider mining industry experience.

That's awesome Navin, we would be able to also be able understand the business and operations on the whole

    Of course :)
