Exploration and Discovery

Exploration and discovery are at the core of who we are at IGO. We understand that exploration to discover the mines of the future is essential to ensuring the continued supply of the metals that are critical to clean energy and the ongoing decarbonisation of our planet.

Fraser Range Project

IGO_Fraser_Range_exploration.jpg

The Fraser Range Project in Western Australia is a belt-scale project, highly prospective for high-value magmatic nickel-copper-cobalt (Ni-Cu-Co) sulphide discoveries. The project presents a unique opportunity to not only explore stand-alone, high-value, magmatic nickel-copper sulphide deposits but also work on delivering a quality, high-grade resource inventory, to extend the life of mine at the Nova Operation and develop future Silver Knight mining operations.

Paterson Project

IGO’s Copper Exploration projects are located across Australia, including the Paterson Project in Western Australia and the Copper Coast Project in South Australia. The Exploration team use regional 3D modelling to search for sub-surface copper deposits and apply cutting-edge techniques to test targets, all while embracing a love for the outdoors.

Kimberley Project

Kimberley_Grant_Coopes.jpg

The Kimberley Project is a belt-scale project that is highly prospective for high-value magmatic nickel-copper-cobalt (Ni-Cu-Co) sulphide discoveries.

IGO’s Kimberley team are actively exploring for magmatic nickel (Ni) between Broome and Kununurra, working with multiple Traditional Custodians and Pastoral Stations. The project uses historical exploration, recent geophysical and aerial data to create interpretive geology of interest, planning out areas of first pass reconnaissance traversing/mapping and follow up ground EM surveying.
