Hey there, I was fortunate to be employed by IGO as part of the Western Areas takeover so was provided with a great deal of information as part of this process. There was plethora of information to absorb regarding the company, culture and philosophy. One thing I didn't acknowledge fully was the depth and quality of training/ development offered by IGO - available in house to all employees.
It is a well structured curricula of training and personal development. As a supervisor I have to upgrade my knowledge to be compliant with new WHS legislation and IGO are on the front foot with getting all supervisors through this as soon as possible. So my response to your question is not so much what I wish I knew prior, but a heads up to any prospective employee not to skip over the training offered by IGO as something all companies do. There is a well structured flexible and achievable program tailored to each role. A significantly better offering than a lot of mining companies.
