Hi Tara, I'm a Mining Engineering graduate with IGO. Because graduates come from different Universities, and have a different range of experiences, the graduate program is about learning skills that are specific to mining and to IGO. Essentially, we are expected to learn! Which degree were you studying?
Chemical Engineering and Metallurgy :)
Fantastic. So for Mining Engineers, we do a three year program, where we move across different sites to get a feel for how mining operates across our different operations. This means that we meet different people, and are involved in different departments, so that we gain as much exposure as possible. I believe for Chemical and Metallurgy you will do two years because you are not required to do underground time.
Do they stay at the Nova concentrator or do they also cycle to a different site during the program?
We move across different sites to gain experience in different operations; which is usually a 6 month rotation
Okay no worries, thank you
