    Hi Everyone

  • Jonathan M.
    Jonathan M. Graduate Mining Engineer

In the mining department, the work during the vac program was project-based work. So depending on what department you are in will depend on the project.

Is the BioHeap process being utilised at Forrestania or any other IGO Operations and if so to what scale is it being done?

To quickly introduce myself too, my name is Nilan Mepani and I am currently in my final year of my studies in Geology. I have never been to the mines, most my experience so far comes from field work during my degree and as research assistant in labs. I am curious and intreseted in getting into more field work in the mines.

My project was building visualisations for the equipment at Nova to see how well they are performing.

Hey Nilan, great question! Generally graduates participate in graduate connection events, which are fun activities used to build our relationships with one another and build on our soft skills. Additionally we we participate in CoRE events, which focuses on building STEM based skills for high schoolers in Norseman.

So during the graduate connection events, have you made any lasting connections or friendships with employees or other vacation students during your time at IGO?

Hey Kabir, my best advice for being selected is to just be yourself! The best way to stand out is to just be your genuine self :)

My name is Kabir Isa, a first-year postgraduate Mining Engineering student. I was in NOVA last year on one of our WIL week programmes and was opportune to visit the underground with Jonathan and Zak. That was my second and best underground experience. At the time of my visit the program was closed and I made a promise to myself that this is a real working environment for anybody to develop a successful career.
Most of my experiences are in Mineral Processing and metallurgy and Mining engineering is a new career part for me.
The ventilation survey done on that visit was used as part of my assessment of Mine Ventilation.

Thanks, Jonathan and Zak happy seeing you Jona again and hope to be part of this wonderful IGO Family.
