For our design/drill and blast work we used dewsik with the scheduling and drill and balst packages. Ventilation is managed through ventsim. And list most places excel is used a lot.

That will depend on positions and availability; typically grads will go underground to complete their underground competency which will help in getting your mines managers ticket further in your career.

Hi Trevor, I am a graduate Mining Engineer and have just started in the Backfill department at Nova. Another grad student has started in the drill and blast department, so it depends which site you are at and what is available! Inevitably, you will gain some experience across all areas throughout the three years.
