Your Opportunity

Due to an internal promotion, we are seeking a Lead Health & Safety Advisor to join our Exploration portfolio. This role provides strategic and operational health and safety leadership to domestic and international exploration projects. You will be responsible for developing tailored safety strategies, conducting risk assessments, leading incident investigations, and managing travel safety and wellbeing programs. Based in South Perth, you will have the opportunity to travel regularly to IGO’s exploration sites.

Through tailored strategies, risk management frameworks, and proactive field leadership, you will facilitate safe and effective exploration activities that contribute to IGO’s exploration success and achieve our safety goals.  

What You'll Do

  • Develop and implement health and safety strategies specific to exploration activities
  • Lead risk assessments, identify critical risks and ensure appropriate strategies are implemented
  • Lead incident investigations, develop corrective actions and facilitate learning to prevent recurrence
  • Manage health and safety aspects of international travel for exploration teams
  • Develop and implement critical risk management frameworks specific to exploration hazards
  • Conduct regular field visits to exploration sites, providing visible safety leadership and supporting field teams in maintaining safe operations
  • Roll out IGO's health and wellbeing programs adapting as needed to specific challenges of exploration work
  • Develop and maintain emergency response plans and procedures for exploration activities
  • Engage with diverse exploration teams and contractors across multiple countries and cultures

 

What You'll Bring

This role will suit an experienced health and safety leader who enjoys the diversity and challenge that mineral exploration can provide;

  • Tertiary qualification in Occupational Health and Safety, Risk Management or related discipline
  • Significant experience in health and safety roles, specifically in high-risk or remote operations (mineral exploration and/or international exploration experience highly regarded)
  • Experience with aviation safety and international travel risk management (desirable);
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills with ability to lead and influence diverse teams;
  • Accreditation and demonstrated experience in ICAM incident investigation methodology;
  • Willingness and ability to undertake regular domestic field travel and occasional international travel to remote locations;
  • Current ‘C’ class manual drivers’ licence and medical fitness for remote area fieldwork; and
  • A recent National Police Clearance (within 2 months).
