Hi, when submitting your application, if you don't have any mining experience, make sure you highlight the other things you do, any part time roles or extra curricular activities. All this makes your application stronger.
Hi Kate, this is kishore I am a mining engineering student and also I am working in blast crew with NSR, So I am planning to get my shotfierer ticket I am just wondering if it is essential to secure a grad mining engineering role
Hi Kate. Thank you for your answer. However, all my extra-curricular and part time job are not related to the field. Would these be a problem?
Hi Kishore, it would certainly strengthen your application but it is not a requirement, we provide all on the job training.
Not at all Kiensheng, it does not need to be related to mining.
But I have done my final year project related to digital twin of 3D geological model using Gempy which is a bit different from leapfrog. Would this make my application stronger?
That's good to know kate, so what more can I do to secure a grad role?
Submit your application! We look forward to receiving it :)
Hi Kiengsheng, yes that sounds very interesting.
Yeah Kate, I have submitted my application.
So I am completing my studies this June(2023),may I know when does IGOs grad program begins?
Thank you Kate. So what more can I do to secure a grad role? Should I start learning new software related to Mining?
And also I know shot plus (open cut) and I am trying to learn Deswik!! Does IGO expect us to have knowledge in any other software?!
There isn't an expectation to know the software used, but more an expectation to learn the software and to be able to pick it up on-site.
That's good to know Jonathan, thank you
Thank you kate
How will I able to show you that I can pick up quickly and willing to learn? Sorry about this weird question.
Hi Kiengseng, it's not a weird question at all!
From my research of IGO projects, NOVA, COSMOS Project, Forrestania and Lithium JV, which are projects of underground and open pits, How Will the selection for the program be done as there was no room for preference selection in the application?
Hi Kabir, correct, there is not an option to select your preference as we will determine your rotations. What is your particular area of interest?
The Graduate program starts in early February each year.
In the interview process, you can tell your interviewer (this is the short answer)
You can tell them examples of times you have done this. And in the assessment centre, your ability to pick up tasks quickly and problem-solve should hopefully become apparent to your assessor.
Am just curious at the moment, but open and keen to learn new things. If possible have a bit of an open pit and underground at the vac level before the grad.
Thank you Jonathan. I am mostly panicking when talking to the interviewers. But this is what I should improve. I am really interested in mining industry, do you have any specific page or event that I am able to join?
Kiengseng, try to do interview practice with people you know! It is easy for us to say but we want you to do well!
Thank you Gail. I will do my best.
Thanks Kabir, our Graduates will rotate through our Underground mine sites (Nova, Cosmos and Forrestania). It is possible down the track there may be scope to rotate through our JV partners.
One more thing, do you have any graduate position early than February next year?
Talking about clean energy, from my research, IGO already has most of the critical minerals in stock like Ni, Li, Cu, Co, ...... is there any special requirements I need to attain before being selected for the Vac. program?
Hi all Graduates start on the program in Jan/Feb each year. We have already commenced with our 2023 Grads so our next intake would be early 2024.
Thank you Teena.
Thanks Gail.
Thank you Kate, Jonathan, Gail and Teena for answering my question. I am hoping that I am able to meet you and work alongside you one day.
No worries, good luck with your application
I look forward to the vac. program and thanks Gail for your responses.
Thank you all for your time and am looking forward to joining the great IGO family as a lot of skills and innovations will be learn
