We have a current opportunity for an experienced and passionate safety professional who thrives on understanding how work is truly done and driving improvements that make work safer and more effective. Applications are now open for the position of Senior Advisor Work, Health & Safety.

 

Why This Role Matters

This role plays a critical part in shaping the final chapter of the Nova story. Our Nova underground operation is due to cease production in late 2026 and will be followed by approximately 2-3 years of closure activities. This is a rare opportunity to be part of a high-performing, motivated team as they responsibly and safely bring this world class mine to a close.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Champion a positive safety culture by leading health, safety, and wellbeing initiatives;
  • Provide expert WHS technical support across the Nova operation;
  • Educate teams on WHS legislation and hazard identification to drive continuous improvement;
  • Support the development and enhancement of workplace health and safety management systems;
  • Lead and review corrective actions to ensure effective resolution and continuous learning;
  • Assist in the implementation and monitoring of critical safety controls;
  • Lead incident investigations, promoting learnings and building organisational resilience; and
  • Maintain accurate systems and data to monitor and report on safety performance.

 

Your Experience

The ideal candidate will have a passion for driving a positive safety culture and bring the following:

  • Diploma in Workplace Health and Safety (minimum);
  • Experience in heavy industry, ideally an underground mining environment;
  • Strong technical knowledge of contemporary WHS practices;
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and relationship building skills;
  • Proficiency in MS Office and strong analytical/report writing capabilities;
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment;
  • Valid ‘C’ class manual driver’s licence; and
  • National Police Clearance (issued within the last 2 months).
