Your Opportunity

Following a recent strategy and operating model review, our focus is on building the structure, skills and capabilities required for the next chapter of the IGO story.  Our Commercial and Growth team are seeking applications for a Head of Joint Ventures. This newly created role will be responsible for managing IGO’s interests in joint ventures. This role will work closely with internal and external teams and stakeholders to drive strategic alignment, risk management, and value maximisation.

Reporting to the Chief Growth and Commercial your key accountabilities include:

  • Ensuring strategic alignment of the joint venture with corporate objectives
  • Work with JV management to optimise production, costs, and operational efficiencies and ensuring performance is aligned with shareholder expectations
  • Build and maintain a strong, constructive relationship with our joint ventures, ensuring collaboration and mutual benefit
  • Act as the primary liaison between the JV’s and stakeholders, including executive leadership, legal, finance, and technical teams
  • Ensure adherence to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) standards, including safety, sustainability, and ethical business practices
  • Provide expert advice and oversight IGOs exploration joint venture portfolio and all future JVs, working closely with relevant Exploration and internal stakeholders.

About Your Experience

Along with an ability to negotiate and influence, you must have excellent stakeholder management skills and bring the following skills:

  • Significant experience in joint venture management and governance including corporate development, or commercial operations
  • Strong understanding of joint venture agreements, international business law and operational oversight, particularly in the mining and refining sectors.  Exposure to both upstream and downstream processes is desirable
  • Demonstrated experience in China, including knowledge of business practices, negotiation approaches, and regulatory landscapes
  • Proven ability to navigate complex commercial agreements, drive strategic decision-making, and influence outcomes
  • Strong financial acumen, with the ability to interpret financial reports, budgets, and investment models
  • Ability to work across multicultural environments, with a strong appreciation for cross-border business dynamics
  • Applicants with fluency in Mandarin or a strong familiarity with Chinese business culture and negotiating styles will be highly regarded
  • National Police Clearance obtained within the last two months.
