Your Opportunity

Our Nova operation is in the closing stages of its life cycle with approximately 18 months of mine life remaining before moving towards closure activities. 

Reporting to the Manager Safety, this role will lead safety health and wellbeing at our Nova Operation and be responsible for the implementation of WHS systems of work including providing assurance that they are being effectively implemented.

As a member of the site leadership team, you will manage the execution of WHS support services, (Health, Medical, Safety and Emergency Response), to meet the requirements of the operation.

Key accountabilities include:

  • Support organisational change and growth to achieve a work environment where work can be safely and efficiently executed;
  • Support the Nova leadership team in implementation of strategies to effectively manage health and safety risks including the prevention of workplace fatalities;
  • Execute the Nova internal WHS and emergency assurance programs and work with stakeholders to ensure that identified corrective actions are completed;
  • Engage with leadership teams to develop safety capability in our line leaders supported by coaching from the WHS function;
  • Support the continued professional development of the WHS team;
  • Lead improvement in service delivery, WHS, emergency and related systems and expenditure;
  • Identify, plan, develop and manage budgets for activities and capital expenditure in area of responsibility to approved schedule and budget; and
  • Reforecast projects, capital and operating costs on a quarterly basis.

 

Your Experience

The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to workplace safety and enjoy mentoring and leading a team to success. They will also bring the following:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications along with excellent capability in contemporary workplace health and safety management.
  • Exposure to managing site emergency and medical response processes, personnel and facilities;
  • Exposure to heavy industry including mining or mineral processing;
  • Prior experience leading and mentoring teams of professionals to success;
  • Demonstrated analytical ability and report writing skills;
  • Valid ‘C’ class manual drivers’ licence; and
  • National Police Clearance obtained within the last 2 months.
